What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed in Parking Lot Exit Crashes?
Crashes involving vehicles exiting parking lots are reviewed by examining right-of-way rules, traffic speed, and driver visibility. These areas can be particularly complex due to frequent turning movements and limited sight distance.
Investigators typically assess whether approaching drivers had enough time to react and whether the exiting vehicle entered traffic safely. Roadway layout, signage, and traffic flow patterns are also considered. Evidence from vehicle damage, skid marks, and intersection positioning helps reconstruct how the collision occurred and determine contributing factors.
