Pittsburg, KS (June 24, 2026) – A Pittsburg driver was hurt after a truck struck Lotus Express on S Broadway Street on Wednesday morning.
The Pittsburgh Police Department said officers were called to 412 S Broadway Street around 6:09 a.m. after a 2008 Nissan Titan left the roadway and hit the south side of the restaurant building, creating a large opening.
Police identified the driver as 20-year-old Willie Earl Williams III. Williams was taken to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh with minor injuries. Police said there was no indication of impairment and determined he fell asleep before crossing traffic lanes and leaving the roadway.
Inspectors, Evergy, and Kansas Gas Service helped secure the building after the collision. Lotus Express had not been open for several months before the accident.
The circumstances surrounding the wreck are still being reviewed. We are thinking of the injured driver as he continues his recovery.
