Cedar Rapids, IA (June 20, 2026) – One person was injured after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 76th Avenue SW and Maple Grove Road SW in Cedar Rapids on Thursday afternoon, June 18.
According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 5:20 p.m. Investigators said a Volkswagen was traveling behind a Mazda when it failed to maintain enough distance and rear-ended the Mazda after it stopped in traffic. Following the impact, the Volkswagen lost control and left the roadway, coming to a stop in a ditch.
One person was hurt in the crash and received medical attention. Authorities said the Volkswagen driver was cited for following too closely. The incident remains under review by authorities.
