Grand Rapids, MN (September 2, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday evening, September 1, at the intersection of Hwy 169 and 21st St in Grand Rapids Township, Itasca County.
The Kia Sorento was traveling north on Hwy 169 while the Chevrolet Equinox was heading west on 21st St when the vehicles struck each other at the intersection.
Daniel Lee Gilbert, 50, of Grand Rapids, was hurt and listed with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Grand Itasca Hospital for treatment. Kit Jo Grovenburg, 18, of Wawina, reported no injuries.
Emergency units assisted at the wreck, and additional details about the accident were not immediately available. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under review as the investigation continues.
