Houston, TX (September 14, 2026) – A driver was killed on Saturday, September 12, after a van towing an arrow board crashed into a stopped box truck on the South Beltway 8 in Houston.
The crash happened at approximately 8 a.m. on the westbound main lanes after Bellfort Avenue. According to Harris County Constable Precinct 7, the van failed to brake and struck the rear of a box truck that had stopped behind another vehicle because of a lane closure.
The impact pushed the van from the third lane into the first and second lanes. The van’s driver was later pronounced dead. The box truck driver was not injured.
The crash affected four westbound lanes and caused significant traffic delays. TranStar reported delays of about 15 minutes shortly before 10 a.m. The crash was cleared at approximately 11:30 a.m.
