Plattsburgh, NY (July 15, 2026) – Two state troopers were injured in a three-vehicle collision near Rand Hill Road early on Tuesday, July 14. The accident occurred at approximately 7:02 a.m.
Troopers Jacob R. Casey and Jakai E. Townsend were traveling west in separate marked Dodge Chargers. Both slowed after the traffic ahead reduced speed for a turning vehicle.
A 2018 Jeep Cherokee driven by 41-year-old Michelle L. Donah then struck Townsend’s cruiser from behind. The force pushed his vehicle into Casey’s patrol car, and Townsend’s Dodge caught fire following the contact.
Emergency units extinguished the flames. Both troopers were taken to Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Donah was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical treatment.
Investigators continue reviewing the crash. We hope both troopers experience a speedy recovery.
