Polson, MT (May 28, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash along Highway 93 and Tower Road in Polson led to major delays Tuesday evening after one driver became trapped inside a heavily damaged vehicle.
The wreck happened around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5. Emergency units arriving at the roadway found one person pinned inside a vehicle with serious injuries. Crews worked for about an hour and a half to free the driver due to the extent of damage and the design of the vehicle.

Traffic along Hwy 93 remained shut down during the rescue effort to protect those involved and crews working at the roadway.
Officials are still reviewing what led to the crash.
We hope those hurt in the wreck make a full and speedy recovery.
Why Highway Closures Often Follow Serious Multi-Vehicle Wrecks
Road closures are common after major multi-vehicle wrecks, especially when rescue crews need extra space to safely remove people from damaged vehicles. In some cases, heavy damage can trap drivers or passengers inside, requiring specialized tools and extended rescue work before anyone can be moved.
Closing a highway also helps protect medical helicopters landing nearby or emergency units working close to moving traffic. Debris scattered across lanes, leaking fluids, and disabled vehicles can create added hazards for drivers approaching the roadway.
During these situations, traffic backups may last for hours depending on how many vehicles were involved and how severe the damage is. Once injured people are taken for treatment, crews usually clear debris, inspect the roadway, and reopen lanes as conditions improve.
