Why Hit-and-Run DUI Crashes Face Intensive Investigation
Crashes involving suspected impaired driving and leaving the scene typically trigger detailed investigations due to the seriousness of both allegations. Authorities often work quickly to locate drivers and preserve evidence from the roadway.
Investigators may examine surveillance footage, vehicle damage, and witness statements to establish the sequence of events. Toxicology testing and timing of alcohol consumption can also become key factors in determining impairment.
Road closures in these cases help preserve evidence and ensure safety while crews document the scene. Even after an arrest, the investigation continues as officials review all contributing circumstances.
