Why Pedestrian Wrecks on Interstates Are Often Severe
Pedestrian wrecks on interstate highways frequently result in serious or fatal injuries because traffic moves at high speeds and drivers have little time to react. Limited lighting, heavy traffic flow, and wide travel lanes can make these roadway encounters especially dangerous.
Investigators often examine roadway visibility, traffic patterns, and the position of vehicles at the time of the collision. Damage to the involved vehicles, roadway markings, and surveillance footage may help provide a clearer timeline of what happened.
Medical findings can also help explain the severity of injuries caused during the wreck. Witness statements and physical evidence gathered from the roadway are commonly reviewed as part of the process. Early reports are often brief while more information is collected and analyzed.
