Gainesville, GA (August 4, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision at Queen City Parkway and Aviation Boulevard left a taxi passenger seriously hurt early on Sunday morning. The crash happened shortly before 1:15 a.m. at the Gainesville intersection.
Michael Richard Murray, 49, of Norcross, was driving a 2010 Toyota Tundra north on Aviation Boulevard when he failed to stop at a traffic signal, according to the report. His truck struck a 2016 Honda Civic operating as a taxi while it traveled east through the intersection.
A back-seat passenger, Ma DeJesus Silva Rodriguez, 37, of Gainesville, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with multiple broken bones. No one else was hurt in the wreck.
Murray was charged with DUI-alcohol, open container violation, failure to obey traffic control devices, and felony serious injury by vehicle. He remains held in the Hall County Jail without bond on the felony charge. The review into the circumstances behind the collision is still underway.
