What Can Lead to Hit-and-Run Crashes Involving Suspected Impaired Drivers?
Hit-and-run cases involving suspected impaired driving mostly involve several factors that investigators review after a serious roadway occurrence. Alcohol or drug impairment can affect judgment, reaction time, and decision-making, increasing the likelihood of unsafe driving behavior.
When a driver leaves after a roadway collision, investigators may examine witness statements, surveillance footage, vehicle damage, and physical evidence left behind. These details can help establish what happened before and after the vehicles came into contact.
In cases where injuries are reported, medical records may also help document the extent of harm. Road conditions, traffic controls, visibility, and vehicle movements are frequently reviewed as part of the fact-finding process. As more information becomes available, a clearer picture of the circumstances leading up to the roadway encounter can emerge.
