What Factors Are Commonly Examined Following a Motorcycle Fatality?
After a fatal motorcycle crash, investigators commonly review several types of evidence to better understand what occurred. This may include the positions of the vehicles, traffic signal timing, roadway markings, weather conditions, and any available surveillance or dash camera footage.
Vehicle damage can also provide insight into how the collision unfolded. Investigators may examine speed estimates, braking evidence, and sight lines at intersections. Witness statements are frequently reviewed alongside physical evidence gathered from the roadway.
Motorcycle crashes can present unique challenges because riders have less physical protection than occupants of larger vehicles. As a result, even incidents that appear minor at first can lead to severe outcomes. A complete review of all available evidence helps create a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
