What Happens in Head-On Collisions on Two-Lane Highways?
Head-on crashes on two-lane highways often occur when a vehicle crosses the center line into oncoming traffic. These collisions can be severe due to the combined speed of both vehicles at impact, increasing the force involved.
Factors such as driver distraction, fatigue, or limited visibility may contribute to a vehicle drifting out of its lane. Road design and lack of physical barriers between lanes can also increase the risk of this type of crash.
In many cases, safety features like seat belts can help reduce the severity of injuries. Vehicle position, speed, and angle of impact are also key elements that affect outcomes in head-on collisions.
