Vista, CA (August 31, 2026) – According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle struck and killed a 26-year-old electric bicycle rider Saturday afternoon near South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road in Vista, with the incident reported around 3:38 p.m. on August 29.
The e-bike rider crossed Melrose against a red traffic signal. He was then struck by a northbound vehicle near Breeze Hill Park. The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries. Officials did not provide information about whether he was wearing a helmet.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Officials said drugs and alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the fatal collision. Troopers are looking into the incident. We send our deepest sympathies to the grieving family and friends.
