What Families Should Know About E-Scooter Safety
Children riding e-scooters face risks from moving vehicles, uneven pavement, traffic signals, and other road users. Safety guidance generally recommends wearing a properly fitted helmet and choosing riding areas away from heavy vehicle traffic when possible. Children should also learn to watch for vehicles before entering intersections and follow posted traffic rules.
Visibility is another major safety concern, particularly near intersections and driveways. Riders can improve their visibility by wearing bright clothing and using lights or reflectors when riding in low-light conditions. Parents and caregivers can also review basic scooter safety rules with children and supervise younger riders based on their age and experience.
