Washington County, MO (June 14, 2026) – One person was killed, and several others were seriously injured in a fatal collision on Friday evening, June 12, on Missouri Route 8 in Washington County.
The incident was reported around 5:07 p.m. along westbound MO-8 east of Ottertail Road. Crash details reported that a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling eastbound while passing multiple vehicles in the westbound lane when it entered oncoming traffic and struck a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta head-on. Rescue units responded to the scene and found both vehicles with severe damage.
Two people were in the Volkswagen Jetta: a 30-year-old female driver who was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner and a 10-year-old female passenger who was flown to Cardinal Glennon Hospital with serious injuries. Multiple others were injured in the crash. A 21-year-old male driver of the Dodge Ram sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy St. Louis Hospital. A passenger of the same vehicle, a 20-year-old female, was also seriously injured and transported to Mercy South Hospital.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
