Houston, TX (July 28, 2026) — At least one person was killed in an early morning crash on northbound I-45 near Scarsdale Boulevard in southeast Houston on Sunday, July 26.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 5 a.m., according to the Houston Police Department. The crash occurred along the Gulf Freeway and prompted investigators to close the northbound main lanes while they worked at the scene.
Houston TranStar reported that two right shoulders and three northbound frontage road lanes were also blocked. The roadway reopened around 8:45 a.m.

Parties with a proper interest may receive an unredacted report. Other requesters receive a redacted copy under Texas Transportation Code § 550.065(c). Texas does not have a fixed public-release window because access and redaction depend on the requester’s eligibility.
