Why Extrication Is Needed After Severe Vehicle Crashes
In serious crashes, vehicle damage can trap drivers or passengers inside. Twisted metal, crushed doors, and collapsed frames often prevent people from getting out on their own.
Extrication is the process of safely removing trapped occupants using specialized tools. Crews may cut through doors, roofs, or other parts of the vehicle to create an opening without causing further harm.
This process can take time, especially when injuries are involved. Stabilizing the vehicle and carefully freeing the person helps reduce the risk of worsening their condition before they are taken to the hospital for treatment.
