Belleville, IL (August 19, 2026) – A 44-year-old East St. Louis man died after a two-vehicle wreck at Westfield Plaza Drive and Old St. Louis Road early Monday morning, August 17, according to Belleville police. Jerome Tilmon was pronounced dead at Belleville Memorial Hospital shortly after the crash, reported around 6:10 a.m.
One of the vehicles struck a brick trash enclosure at a nearby McDonald’s; both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. Two others, including a young passenger, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries; their conditions were not known as of this report.
Illinois State Police assisted with crash reconstruction. The eastbound lanes of Old St. Louis Road between 74th Street and Hillsdale Drive were closed while crews investigated.
