Newnan, GA (August 19, 2026) – At least one person was injured on Tuesday afternoon, August 18, in a multi-vehicle collision at Shenandoah Boulevard and Forest Road. The crash was reported during the afternoon and caused a roadway blockage.
The initial alert confirmed that multiple vehicles were involved.
The roadway was later reported clear at approximately 4:32 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We hope everyone injured recovers fully.
Why Can Multi-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Cause Sudden Traffic Blockages?
When several vehicles collide near an intersection, damaged cars can come to rest across turning lanes, through lanes, or nearby shoulders. This can quickly limit the space available for other drivers.
Debris, medical activity, and towing operations may exacerbate disruption while crews clear the roadway. Traffic can also back up on multiple approaches because several directions depend on the same intersection.
Vehicle position, traffic volume, road width, and the number of cars involved can all influence how long the blockage continues. Even after patients are assisted, cleanup may take additional time before normal traffic flow resumes.
