What Is Commonly Reviewed in Motorcycle and Passenger Vehicle Crashes?
Crashes involving motorcycles and passenger vehicles are often examined by reviewing visibility, vehicle movement, and roadway positioning before impact. Investigators typically look at whether either vehicle was turning, changing lanes, or entering traffic when the collision occurred.
Because motorcycles are smaller and less visible than larger vehicles, sightlines and driver awareness are commonly reviewed. Damage to the motorcycle and passenger vehicle can help reconstruct the angle and severity of the crash.
In serious injury accidents, investigators may also examine braking evidence, roadway conditions, and witness statements. Traffic reconstruction teams often use measurements and scene evidence to better understand how the collision unfolded.
