Crowded Intersections Can Increase Motorcycle Crash Dangers
Intersections can be risky for motorcyclists because traffic may be moving in several directions at once. Drivers may be turning, crossing lanes, slowing, or watching signals while smaller vehicles move nearby.
Motorcycles can also be harder to see than cars and SUVs, especially during evening traffic. A rider has little protection during contact with another vehicle, so injuries can become severe even when the crash happens at a city intersection.
Repeated crashes at the same crossing may point to added roadway challenges. These can include traffic volume, turning patterns, sight lines, signal timing, or driver confusion. After a serious motorcycle accident, reviews frequently focus on vehicle paths, visibility, speed, and where each driver or rider was before contact.
