Why Motorcycle Crashes on Urban Highways Can Cause Severe Injuries
Motorcyclists face a higher risk of serious trauma during highway crashes because they have far less physical protection compared to occupants inside passenger vehicles. Even moderate-speed impacts can throw a rider from the motorcycle and lead to injuries from contact with the pavement or nearby objects.
Busy interchanges and merging traffic near urban highways may increase the risk of collisions involving motorcycles and cars. Investigators reviewing these crashes examine lane positioning, vehicle speed, braking evidence, and visibility conditions to better understand how the collision occurred.
