Why Residential Fires Can Escalate Quickly
Fires in duplexes or multi-unit buildings can spread rapidly due to shared walls and attic spaces. Combustible materials in homes, such as furniture and household items, often fuel flames and increase heat intensity.
Firefighters rely on coordinated mutual aid, water supply, and ventilation techniques to contain fires and prevent spread to neighboring units. Even with a quick response, structural collapse and smoke exposure pose risks to both occupants and first responders. Rapid evacuation and medical attention are essential in reducing the severity of injuries in these situations.
