Why Technical Rescue Teams Are Called After Serious Crashes
Some motor vehicle crashes require more than basic emergency response when people become trapped inside damaged vehicles. In these situations, fire and rescue teams may use specialized tools to safely free occupants without causing further injury.
Air medical transport is often requested when injuries appear severe or when rapid transfer to a trauma center is needed. Helicopters can shorten travel time compared to ground ambulances, especially in areas with longer hospital distances.
Intersections, such as rural road crossings, can also pose higher risks due to turning vehicles, speed changes, and limited visibility. After serious crashes, investigators typically examine the roadway layout, vehicle damage, and evidence at the scene to determine how the collision occurred.
