Ottawa County, OH (July 8, 2026) – A 60-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon, July 6, at the intersection of SR-163 and Elliston Trowbridge Road in Benton Township, Ottawa County. The crash reportedly happened around 2:15 p.m.
According to investigators, a 2011 Chevy Malibu was traveling south on Elliston Trowbridge Road when the driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. The Malibu struck a 2017 Jeep Compass traveling east on SR-163. Both vehicles left the roadway after the collision, and the Jeep overturned, ejecting the driver.
Officials identified the Jeep driver as Danny Avery of Perrysburg. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19-year-old driver of the Chevy Malibu from Genoa was not injured.
