Clear Lake, IA (August 1, 2026) – Deputies reported a fatal boat collision that killed one man on Clear Lake on Thursday morning, July 30. The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on the west end of the lake, known locally as Little Lake.
According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the victim was operating a fishing boat when it collided with another boat. The man’s identity has not been released. A passenger in the fishing boat was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment.
Passengers in the other boat were not injured, and officials said alcohol was not a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation.
