Lincoln, IL (August 15, 2026) – A 54-year-old Saybrook man lost his life in a head-on crash that occurred near 1500th Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, on US 66 near Lincoln.
The Logan County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Scott E. Baxter. He was taken to Lincoln Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. The other driver was also taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their current condition has not been released.
US 66 remained closed until approximately 8:30 p.m. following the crash. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
