Short Gap, WV (July 21, 2026) – A fatal head-on crash on Rocket Center Road in Short Gap, Mineral County, left two people dead on Sunday evening. EMS responded to the 900 block of Rocket Center Road at approximately 8:15 p.m. after reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.
Initial reports indicate the crash involved two vehicles in a head-on collision with possible entrapment. Multiple emergency crews responded, and several ambulances and medical helicopters were sent to the scene. One person was flown to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, while another person was taken by ambulance to UPMC Western Maryland.
Two people were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identities have not been released pending notification of their families. The incident remains under review by authorities.
