What to Know About Head-On Collisions
Head-on collisions can cause severe injuries because two vehicles are moving toward each other before impact. The combined force can lead to significant damage to the front sections of both vehicles. Occupants may suffer serious trauma even when seat belts and airbags are used.
Road conditions, vehicle position, driver actions, visibility, and other factors can affect how these collisions happen. Rural intersections and two-lane roads can also create risks when vehicles cross into opposing lanes. Staying within the proper lane, reducing speed near intersections, and remaining alert can help reduce the chance of a serious roadway collision.
