Fayette, OH (August 31, 2026) – Authorities arrived at the scene of a fatal collision that claimed the life of a Fayette man on Saturday afternoon, August 29, after two vehicles collided at an intersection in Gorham Township. The fatal accident happened around 4:13 p.m. at SR 66 and County Road North.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Washington G. Naula Ochoa, 34, of Perrysburg, was driving a pickup west on County Road North. Troopers said he failed to yield at a stop sign before entering the intersection and striking a southbound SUV. The SUV was driven by 29-year-old Austin J. Karr Grimes of Fayette. After the impact, Karr Grimes lost control, and the SUV left the west side of the roadway and overturned. Karr Grimes was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 26-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child, both passengers in the SUV and from Fayette, were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital with minor injuries. Three adult passengers in the pickup, all from Perrysburg, were not injured. Naula Ochoa was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and a stop sign violation. SR 66 was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was cleared. Our condolences go out to Austin J. Karr Grimes’ family and loved ones.
