Atlanta, GA (August 2, 2026) – A motorcycle passenger was killed, and the rider was critically injured after a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, July 31, on Interstate 75 near Mt Paran Road in Fulton County.
According to preliminary reports, 36-year-old Torrey McClary of Union City was riding a motorcycle southbound while racing another motorcycle. Investigators said McClary changed lanes improperly, causing the motorcycle to strike a passenger vehicle traveling in the same direction. The impact threw McClary and his passenger, 27-year-old Amanda Tanks of Fayetteville, onto the roadway. Tanks was pronounced dead at the scene, while McClary was taken to Grady Hospital in critical condition.
No injuries were reported among the people inside the passenger vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the crash continue to be examined by authorities. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Amanda Tanks and hope the injured rider receives the care needed for recovery.
