Page, AZ (June 7, 2026) – One person died, and another suffered critical injuries on Friday morning after a single-vehicle crash outside the Lake Powell Nazarene Church in Page. Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the area around 11 a.m. on June 5 following reports of the collision.
When emergency units arrived, they found an unresponsive woman driver and a male passenger who had been ejected from the vehicle. Officials said lifesaving efforts were performed on the driver, but she died at the scene. The passenger was taken to Page Hospital before being transferred to a Level 1 trauma center in critical condition.
Investigators determined the vehicle had been traveling north on Lake Powell Boulevard when it jumped a curb and struck the church building. Police said speed appears to have been a factor, though it remains unclear whether impairment contributed to the wreck.
The identity of the woman who died has not yet been released. Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
Our condolences go out to the woman’s loved ones, and we hope the injured passenger recovers.
Why High-Speed Single-Vehicle Crashes Can Become Severe
Single-vehicle crashes often lead to serious injuries when a vehicle leaves the roadway and strikes a fixed object such as a building, pole, or curb. At higher speeds, the force of impact can greatly increase the risk of ejection and life-threatening trauma.
Passengers who are thrown from a vehicle may suffer especially severe injuries because they can strike the ground or nearby objects with significant force. Curbs and roadside barriers may also cause a vehicle to become unstable before impact occurs.
Safety experts encourage drivers to reduce speed in urban areas and remain attentive to roadway conditions. Maintaining control of a vehicle becomes more difficult as speed increases, especially near intersections, curves, and roadside structures.
