What Information Is Gathered After a Fatal Crash Involving Large Trucks?
After a fatal crash involving large trucks, investigators usually examine several pieces of evidence to determine how the collision unfolded. This may include the location of the vehicles, roadway conditions, skid marks, vehicle damage, and the direction each vehicle was traveling before impact.
Investigators may also review witness statements, nearby surveillance or dashboard camera footage, and any electronic data available from the vehicles. In crashes involving commercial trucks, the condition of the vehicle and cargo may also be documented. These findings help create a clearer timeline of events and provide a factual record of the incident as additional verified information becomes available.
