Braidwood, IL (July 23, 2026) – Five people were hurt after a three-vehicle collision involving a car, box truck, and tanker on Route 113 near West River Road in rural Will County early on Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. when emergency units were called to reports of a person ejected from a vehicle. Crews found a box truck in a ditch, a car lodged beneath the rear of the truck, and a tanker positioned in the front yard of a nearby home.
Five people were taken to area hospitals, while the tanker driver declined treatment. None of the reported injuries was considered life-threatening. The tanker was carrying a soybean product, but its diesel tanks were damaged, resulting in an estimated 150 gallons of fuel leaking into the yard.
Cleanup efforts involved environmental personnel and a contracted hazardous materials company. Illinois State Police are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accident. We are thinking of everyone injured as they recover.
