Flint Township, MI (July 23, 2026) – A traffic collision involving injuries temporarily shut down part of southbound I-75 in Flint Township, causing disruptions for commuters in the area.

The roadway closure affected southbound I-75 at the Interstate 69 interchange, Exit 117, after the wreck was reported shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22. According to initial information, the collision occurred near the Miller Road interchange and involved at least one vehicle. Emergency units worked at the roadway while traffic was diverted around the closure.

Transportation officials confirmed that the affected stretch of highway was closed following the injury crash. No information had been released regarding the number of vehicles involved or the identities and medical status of those hurt.

The cause of the collision has not yet been determined, and additional details are expected as more information becomes available.

We hope those injured make a full and speedy recovery.

Why Are Injury Crashes on Interstate Highways Usually More Complex?

Interstate highways present unique challenges when injury collisions occur because of higher travel speeds and heavy traffic volumes. Even a relatively small number of vehicles can create major delays while lanes are closed for emergency access and roadway cleanup. Early reports mostly include only basic information, with additional facts becoming available after investigators review vehicle positions, witness statements, and roadway evidence.

Medical evaluations also play an important part in determining the extent of injuries, as some conditions may not be immediately apparent after a highway collision. Traffic cameras, photographs, and vehicle damage assessments can provide valuable information as officials continue gathering facts. These combined findings help create a clearer picture of how a highway crash unfolded over time.
