Troup County, GA (July 7, 2026) – Five people were taken to a hospital following a rear-end crash on northbound I-85 near mile marker 14 in Troup County. The collision occurred at approximately 4:34 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.
A Hyundai Santa Fe traveling north in the right lane struck the back of a Ford Focus in the same lane. All five occupants across both vehicles were taken to a hospital with injuries. The extent of those injuries was not confirmed in the initial report on the wreck.
Part of the northbound I-85 was closed for approximately one hour following the accident. No identities were released at the time of this report.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. We hope all five people receive the care they need and recover fully.
