Carthage, TN (August 14, 2026) – Five people were hurt on Wednesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle wreck on Dixon Springs Hwy in Smith County.
The wreck occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. A 2019 Lincoln Navigator rear-ended a 2013 Toyota Scion, causing the Scion to spin and strike a 2022 Nissan Altima.
The Navigator then left the road and struck four vehicles parked along the roadway. One of those vehicles was a 2021 Ford 350 with one person inside, who was not hurt.
The Navigator’s 32-year-old driver, her 62-year-old passenger, and a 5-month-old baby were seriously hurt. The drivers of the Scion and Altima were also injured. At least two people were pinned inside one vehicle.
Three seriously hurt people were flown to Nashville hospitals for treatment. Additional details about their medical status were not immediately available.
The investigation into the circumstances of the wreck continues. We hope everyone who was hurt makes a full recovery.
