Oklahoma City, OK (August 22, 2026) – Three people were killed, and a Lighthorse police officer was injured on Thursday afternoon, August 20, in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 near SW 119th Street in southwest Oklahoma City. The crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. as vehicles slowed for traffic.
According to the available report, a semi-truck failed to slow down and struck the vehicles ahead, causing a chain reaction. The semi overturned and came to rest in a ditch, while a second vehicle caught fire with two people inside. Both occupants of the vehicle that caught fire were killed. The driver of the semi-truck also died in the crash. A Lighthorse police officer involved in the incident was taken to a local hospital, while other reported injuries were minor.
As of Friday afternoon, no additional information had been released while law enforcement worked to notify the victims’ next of kin. The incident remains under review, and further details may be released as they become available.
