Port Matilda, PA (August 22, 2026) – A 64-year-old Florida man was killed on Thursday evening, August 20, in a head-on collision along Route 322 in Rush Township, Centre County.
The victim was identified as Mark Erwin of Englewood, Florida. According to the crash report, Erwin was driving a minivan westbound when he reportedly attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle. His minivan then collided head-on with a pickup truck towing a trailer and driven by a 26-year-old Minnesota man.
Erwin was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup truck driver was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with injuries that were not disclosed. Investigators said the pickup driver was not believed to be at fault but received a blood draw due to suspected DUI.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation, and additional details may be released as the case develops.
