What Factors Are Often Examined in High-Speed Intersection Crashes?
High-speed crashes at intersections can cause severe damage due to the force of impact. When vehicles approach from opposite directions, and one attempts a left turn, the risk of a direct collision increases. Speed differences may reduce reaction time for both drivers.
Investigations typically review vehicle paths, turning movements, and roadway layout. Traffic signals, posted speed limits, and visibility conditions may also be considered. Damage patterns and final resting positions can provide insight into how the crash occurred.
Ejection from a vehicle can lead to life-threatening injuries. Seat belt use and impact angle are often key elements in understanding the severity of injuries in these types of collisions.
