Rome, NY (August 28, 2026) – Four people were hospitalized on Wednesday evening after a two-car accident at Rome Taberg Rd and Success Dr. The collision happened around 6:21 p.m. on August 26.

Ashley Fox, 32, of Rome, was attempting to cross Rome Taberg Rd when her vehicle was struck on the side by a westbound car. The other driver, 73-year-old Filippo LoGiudice of West Leyden, was traveling west when the vehicles collided.

Fox and two passengers in her vehicle were taken to Wynn Hospital in Utica for injuries. LoGiudice went to Rome Health, and all four people were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary findings indicated that Fox failed to yield the right of way before the collision. Further details about the accident, including whether any tickets were issued, were not immediately available. The circumstances surrounding the collision are still being reviewed.

We hope everyone hurt makes a full recovery.

How Can Intersection Crashes Cause Injuries?

Intersection crashes usually happen when vehicles enter the same path while turning, crossing traffic, or proceeding through an intersection. Failure to yield, distracted driving, poor visibility, and confusion over traffic signals can increase the risk.

Side-impact crashes can be especially concerning because the sides of vehicles generally provide less space between occupants and the point of contact than the front or rear. Seat belts can help keep people positioned properly and reduce the chance of being thrown inside or from a vehicle.

Medical evaluations may identify injuries that are not immediately obvious. Common problems after a serious roadway collision include fractures, head trauma, and neck or back injuries.
