Danbury, CT (July 24, 2026) – Four people were hurt on Thursday afternoon, July 23, after a two-alarm apartment fire displaced approximately 80 residents in Danbury.
Emergency units were called at about 4:15 p.m. following reports of a fire at an apartment building. Officials initially received conflicting information about the address, but upon arrival found heavy flames and upgraded the response to a second alarm. During firefighting operations, crews learned that a resident was trapped on a balcony while heavy smoke filled the apartment. The person was rescued and taken to Danbury Hospital after being evaluated at the property.
Three civilians and one firefighter were transported to hospitals for further evaluation. Officials also said a dog was rescued from the building and taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment. The fire was brought under control after about two hours, although part of the structure experienced a three-floor pancake collapse during the response. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
