What to Know About School Bus Crashes
School buses share the road with other vehicles and can be involved in crashes at intersections, along busy streets, or in congested traffic. Drivers should remain alert and allow extra space around buses.
Drivers must also follow laws requiring them to stop for school buses when children are boarding or leaving the bus. Passing a stopped school bus can put children and other road users at serious risk.
When a crash involves multiple vehicles, traffic may be affected while the scene is cleared and damaged vehicles are removed. Drivers approaching a crash scene should slow down and follow posted traffic directions.
