West Palm Beach, FL (September 5, 2026) – A West Palm Beach officer riding a marked police e-bike was injured in a vehicle collision downtown on Thursday morning, September 3.

The crash happened near the intersection of Clematis Street and Olive Avenue. The officer was traveling westbound on Clematis Street when a vehicle turning northbound onto Olive Avenue struck the e-bike. A preliminary investigation found that the driver failed to yield while making the turn.

We extend our best wishes to the injured officer for a speedy recovery.

How E-Bike Riders Can Stay Safer Around Turning Vehicles

E-bike riders can face added risks at intersections, especially when vehicles are turning across their path. Drivers should check for bicycles and yield before making a turn.

E-bike riders can reduce crash risks by following traffic signals, staying visible, and watching for vehicles approaching from different directions. Wearing a properly fitted helmet can also help reduce the severity of some head injuries.

Drivers should avoid distractions and carefully check bike lanes, crossings, and intersections before turning. Giving cyclists enough space can also help prevent dangerous collisions.
