What Factors Are Often Reviewed in Pedestrian Highway Collisions?
Pedestrian collisions on highways are often examined by looking at how and why a person entered the roadway. This includes whether there were nearby crossing points or barriers that may have influenced movement.
Speed and lane conditions are also reviewed. High-speed traffic can reduce drivers’ reaction time, especially in lanes with limited visibility or heavy flow.
Lighting and roadway design can also play a role. Poor visibility at night or limited pedestrian access areas may increase risk. Investigators often rely on physical evidence and roadway layout to reconstruct how the incident occurred.
