Passing Maneuvers and Motorcycle Crash Risks on Rural Roads
Roadways such as Reed Avenue and Annadale Avenue often connect agricultural areas and smaller communities. When accidents occur in Fresno County, responders typically secure the intersection while assisting those involved.
Passing slower vehicles on two-lane roads can create hazards when drivers enter lanes normally used by oncoming traffic. These maneuvers may reduce the time available for drivers to see motorcycles or other vehicles already in the roadway.
Motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles, which can make them harder for drivers to notice during passing attempts. When a collision happens during an overtaking maneuver, the difference in size and protection between vehicles can increase the severity of injuries.
