What Happens After a Crash Involving a School Bus?
Crashes involving school buses often lead to temporary road closures while emergency crews check for injuries and assess vehicle damage. Even when students are not hurt, buses are usually inspected before they can return to service. Passenger safety procedures may also be reviewed after the incident.
Traffic delays are common because school buses are large vehicles that can block multiple lanes after a collision. Investigators may examine road conditions, traffic flow, and the position of the vehicles involved. In some cases, nearby intersections and detour routes are monitored to reduce congestion while the roadway is cleared. Information gathered at the scene can help explain how the accident occurred and whether any additional safety concerns need to be addressed.
