Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed affect whether people survive a crash like this? Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which raises the chance of serious or fatal injury.
Why does wearing a seat belt matter so much? Seat belts keep occupants from being thrown from their seats or out of the vehicle during a collision, which lowers the risk of severe injury or death even in serious crashes.
What should families do after a fatal crash like this one? They can contact the investigating agency, in this case CHP South Sacramento, for updates on the investigation and for guidance on obtaining official reports.
How do agencies investigate a fatal two-vehicle crash? Investigators typically examine the scene, vehicle damage, witness statements, and available video to determine how the vehicles collided and whether any violations or impairment contributed.
