GOLDSBORO, Caroline County, Md., Nov. 4, 2026 — A 21-year-old man died on Tuesday morning, November 3, after a two-vehicle crash at Davis Road and Union Road in Goldsboro, according to the Caroline County Sheriff's Office.
A Honda traveling on Davis Road failed to stop at a stop sign around 7 a.m. and entered the intersection, where it was struck on the driver's side by a Chevrolet traveling on Union Road. Investigators believe fog and reduced visibility may have been a factor in the crash.

Union Road was closed while crews processed the scene and cleared the roadway. The Caroline County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police crash team are investigating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do fatal crashes most frequently happen?
They frequently occur at intersections, particularly where a stop sign or signal is missed, or visibility is limited, such as in fog, rain, or darkness.
What makes a crash more likely to turn deadly?
Higher speeds, failure to yield or stop, and poor visibility all raise the chance that a crash results in serious injury or death, especially when a vehicle is struck on the side.
How does speed affect whether people survive a crash?
Even modest speed increases reduce the time a driver has to react and increase the force of impact, which lowers the odds of surviving a collision.
Why does wearing a seat belt matter so much?
A seat belt keeps occupants from being thrown within or out of the vehicle during a crash, which substantially improves the chances of survival in a side-impact or other serious collision.
